holds for us many surprises; some may be delightful. You need a friend
in times of change. More so in the 21st Century with many challenges on
the way.
The New Economy has thrown up many challenges and in the aftermath of the Asian crisis, waves of retrenchments swept through during difficult times. Many sought eagerly for gainful employment, while others sought to know their rights and responsibilities as employees; others felt the urgent need for basic group protection benefits, such as medical and health insurance. Many also approached the Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI) for advice on workplace and other employment problems.
After
careful consideration and planning on how such assistance schemes can
be institutionalized to address these immediate and future concerns, the SHRI’s Executive Council decided to go the co-operative way. Thus, the Singapore Professionals’ and Executives’ Co-operative (SPEC), was registered on 16 May 2000. Singapore Professionals’ & Executives Co-operative (SPEC) was founded in May 2000 by Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI).
SPEC
strives to create a ‘harbour of lives and opportunities’ for its
members and be a dynamic and efficient source of help for professionals,
managers, executives, businessmen and the self-employed (PMEBS). SPEC is
a 'harbour' where you can stop to refuel, refresh or recharge yourself
with the right resources. SPEC offers its members opportunities to
develop and upgrade themselves. A new economy co-operative, SPEC aims to
be a dynamic and efficient source of help for its members to thrive and
seek gainful economic activities, including employment. Our vision is
to achieve connectivity with its members, thus enhancing and enriching
social capital in Singapore for the progress and prosperity of their
family and at the workplace.
We aim to provide professionals and executives the opportunities of enjoyability in this dynamic working environment that we have today.
