Beyond The Peak! What Next?

• Some of us know it is like to reach the peak of our careers - high earnings, top-level position, prestige awards, and many more...

• Some achieve their modest peak, while others may find a higher point in their careers.

• But the question confronts all - What next? Sooner or later, we all get to our peak. Let's start building the road beyond the Peak.

• Last year at the NDP, PM Lee Hsien Loong talked about Mrs Ann Wee, 81, who stayed very active after their prime. She said she wanted a "Rectangular career shape" - she wanted to do what she's doing - lecturing and teaching - as long as she is alive!"

• So what is your career shape? Essentially, it should be your choice. Decide when you are at the peak and ready to downshift.

• Life does not end abruptly as you grow older. It does ebb and slow down. That's the way your careers should be. Find a way to get that "reduced speed" role in which you can still apply your expertise.
