About SPEC

Singapore Professionals' and Executives' Co-operative Ltd (SPEC) was founded by Singapore Human Resources Institute in May 2000 following the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997 and 1998 when waves of retrenchments swept through difficult times, to provide advice on workplace and other employment problems. During the severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars) scare in 2003 and the rapid restructuring of the economy, SPEC helped those whose jobs were affected to seek employment opportunities. While many sought eagerly for gainful employment, others sought group protection benefits such as medical and health insurance. 

A new economy co-operative, SPEC strives to create a “harbour of lives and opportunities” for our members and be a dynamic and efficient source of help for professionals, managers, executives, technicians (PMETs), businessmen and self-employed/ freelancers (PMEBS) and SMEs in its fold to find comfort and support not just during times of uncertainty, but also to meet the challenges of the new economy. As a not-for-profit organisation, our vision is to achieve connectivity with our members towards enhancing and enriching social capital which is vital for the progress and prosperity of their families, workplace and country.

Dear Members of SPEC and friends,

Welcome to the Singapore Professionals’ and Executives’ Co-operative Ltd (SPEC) – a new economy co-operative to meet your changing needs.


SPEC aims to create a harbour of lives and opportunities for its members and be a dynamic source of help for professionals, managers, executives, businessmen and self-employed (PMEBS) to manage change and seek gainful economic activities. Our vision is to achieve connectivity with our members, thus enhancing and enriching social capital in Singapore for the progress and prosperity of their families and at the workplace. We aim to provide professionals and executives the opportunities of employability in this dynamic working environment that we have today. 

 

SPEC Employment Agency was launched in June 2006 to assist individuals and organisations in recruitment and out-placement needs. It provides a convenient one-stop advisory and information centre that includes recruitment, outplacement and career advisory services.
